County Juvenile ‘B’ Track & Field Championships May 21st CIT

Well done to all our athletes who took part in the County B’s on Sunday the 21st May.

Cork County Track & Field Championships 15 May CIT

Day 2 of the County Championships was equally as impressive as Day 1 with athletes represented across most disciplines.

(U9 Girls)  had a great runs & jumps for their first season at the track – well done getting stronger every week.

Sarah Fitzgerald Sprint & Long Jump great progress for her first season at track – well done!

(U14 Girls & Boys) Ava Coyle  had a great day at he track takin 1st place in high jump with a PB, and securing 2nd in both 80m & 200m, Sarah Murphy also put in a strong performance and was unlucky not to medal.

Lia Farrelly continued her success at the track with a 1st in the 200m and Long Jump. RoseMarie Buckley had a great sprint hurdle run in a tough line up.

(U17 Boys)  Alan O’Donovan continues to go from strength to strength taking 1st place in the 800m.

Juvenile Relays & Multi Events T & F Championships CIT May 8th

There were some excellent performances from the club in the Relays and Multi Events in CIT on the 8th May. The club had strong numbers on the day with seven teams participating in the relays and 8 athletes who took part in the Multi Event throughout the afternoon.

Boys U9: (3rd) Cillian Fitzgerald, Ollie Buckley, Cathal Walsh, Harry Walsh

Girls U11: Catherine Murphy, Danielle, Amy Buckley, Aine, Ran well and unlucky not to qualify for final

Boys U11: Ryan McCarthy, Conor O’Donoghue, Joey O’Callaghan, Micheal O’Driscoll. Qualified for the final, great run guys.

U12 Girls:

  • (1st) Lauren Green Caoimhe O’Donoghue, Grace Coyle, Kate Farley
  • Nicole Buckley, Gaby Bowen, Mary Clare Murphy, Katie O’Regan, qualified for the final and narrowly missed out on a medal.
  • Alijandra Retre, Danielle, Amy Buckley, Aine.  Great run girls but tough competiton on the day.

Boys U 12: Cathal Barry, Joey O’Callaghan, Jonathan Walsh, Ryan McCarthy. Great effort boys unlucky not to have placed.

Girls U 14: Ava Coyle, Sarah Fitzgerald, Sarah Murphy, Arianna Price.  Great run girls but  competition was tough on the day.

Pentathlon

After a long morning, there was great stamina shown by the athletes who competed in the Multi Events throughout the afternoon.

The U 12 girls had 5 competitors and took pride of place for the afternoon!  Lauren Green (2nd) narrowly missed out on Gold taking Silver and Caoimhe O’Donoghue (3rd) Bronze on the day.  Nicole Buckley (4th), Gaby Bowen (6th), Alijandra Retre (9th). Well done girls.

Well done also to first timers Boys U12 Joey O’Callaghan and Girls U13 Sarah Fitzgerald (7th) and to Girls U14 Rosemary Buckley (4th) who put in a steady performance.

Club Success at Cork County Championships CIT, Day 1 Sunday 2nd May

What an amazing day on day one of the County Championships in CIT last Sunday. Every athlete jumped, threw and ran their heart out and did so well in all events. With over 1300 athletes taking part  there was great turn out from the club. We are very proud of each and everyone’s efforts!

The club was thrilled to have athletes across all ages and disciplines and it was particularly good for the Club to have first timers in the County U9’s.  It’s a great experience for them and they did the club proud. Well done!

The U10’s put in good runs in the sprint heats and the 500m but with tough competition on the day they were unlucky not to medal.

The U12 Girls are going from strength to strength and were tough competition on the day.  Grace Coyle jumped an amazing 4.17m to easily secure 1st place in Long Jump.  2nd & 3rd were determined by their 2nd jump distances and Gaby Bowen secured 2nd  while Katie O’Regan hurdled her way to 2nd position.  At the end of a long day Nicole Buckley and Lauren Green put in solid runs to take 1st & 2nd in the 600m respectively.  Kate Farley and Caoimhe O’Donoghue put in strong performances on the day great effort girls.

We are delighted to see Alan O’Donovan back representing the club at U17 and he put in a fantastic performance on Sunday taking 1st in Javelin and 3rd 400m.
